In an ongoing effort to solidify the “Charlie Powell Memorial” as a marquee event in the Southeast, the speedway has partnered with two well known staples in the racing industry. Renegade Fuels has come on board as the title sponsor for the first weekend of two, the “South Carolina 250.” Renegade has been a longtime supporter of Myrtle Beach Speedway and will transition their support to the new Florence Motor Speedway. Week two of the “Charlie Powell Memorial - South Carolina 400” will partner with a name that has become synonymous with racing in the Southeast. Solid Rock Carriers, out of La Grange, NC, has come forth to help propel Late Model Stock racing as they have done time after time. The feature race of the “South Carolina 400,” the 225 lap Late Model Stock Car portion, will now see drivers from all across the United States vie for a chance at the recently increased winner’s purse of $10,000. The “Charlie Powell Memorial – SC 250 / SC 400,” a combined version of the former FMS Fall Classic and Myrtle Beach 400 events, will take place the two weekends leading up to Thanksgiving. Week one, the South Carolina 250 presented by Renegade Fuels, will see Limited Late Models, Super Trucks, and Street Stocks compete for the inaugural win to the 2020 event. The Solid Rock Carriers South Carolina 400, slated for week two, will have Late Model Stock Cars, S.M.A.R.T. Modifieds presented by SMART Chevrolet, the Carolina Pro Late Model Series, and the Allison Legacy Series. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ATTENTION RACE TEAMS: If you haven’t already, please be sure to register for your respected race as the qualifying order for each division will be based off the invert order of how submissions are filed. Online entry can be found at fmspeedway.com/pre-entry while hard copy entry forms can be mailed to Florence Motor Speedway – 836 E. Smith St. – Timmonsville, SC 29161. Race schedules and other info regarding the dual weekend event can be found at fmspeedway.com. For those wondering about field sizes and format, please see below… If car count for any division is 28 cars or less, the main event lineup will be set purely off qualifying times. If car count is between 29-40, then top 20 from qualifying times will lock in and 21-40 will be delegated to a 25 lap B main with top 8 finishers advancing. All others will not make the main event and receive an attendance payout. Cars that transfer from B main will have the option to run the same tires, buy new tires for the main event, or change to tires that were purchased from FMS during the race weekend. If car count is 41 or more, then top 20 from qualifying times will lock in and 21st on back will be delegated to two (2) 25 lap B mains with top 4 advancing from each. All others will not make the main event and receive an attendance payout. Cars that transfer from B mains will have the option to run the same tires, buy new tires for the main event, or change to tires that were purchased from FMS during the race weekend. The race promoter will have the option to add up to two (2) provisionals making the starting field 30 cars.
